Spring Butterflies
This is a simple little cheerful card to make! It uses the new Butterfly Bijou Designer Paper from Stampin' Up! and the Kangaroo and Company stamps and dies. I thought it would be cute to make it appear as though the butterflies are flying out of the Kangaroo's pouch and off the page. The "Welcome Spring" greeting holds the easel in place.
You will need the following paper:
Cardstock cut to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". I used Magenta Madness scored at 4 1/4" and 2 1/8"
2 pieces of Butterfly Bijou patterned paper cut to 1 7/8" x 5 1/4"
1 piece of Butterfly Bijou paper cut to 3/4" x 5 1/4"
Basic White cardstock for stamping and die cutting
1 strip of acetate 2 1/2" x 3/8"
scrap piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock
To assemble the card:
Burnish the Magenta Madness cardstock at the score lines and attach the two pieces of DSP (Designer Series Paper) to the front of the card.
Using the white cardstock, cut and die cut 6 butterflies, and two of the Kangaroos from the Kangaroo and Company Stamp and Die set. Also stamp a greeting for the front of the card as well as the inside strip.
Using Stamp and Blend markers, color the Kangaroos and the Butterflies and attach 4 of the butterflies to the strip of acetate.
Place the acetate strip inside the Kangaroos pouch at an angle and attach it to the inside of the pouch. I used Tear and Tape to do this. Attach the Kangaroos to the front, bottom of the card front using dimensionals. Only attach the large Kangaroo at the bottom. Once the Kangaroos are attached place the final two butterflies by the kangaroo pouch and on the little kangaroo's nose using a mini dimensional.
Punch out your greeting for the front by using the duo oval punch and place it on a backing punched from the Bermuda Bay cardstock using the larger oval from the same oval punch. I used dimensionals to raise the greeting.
Finish the front of your card with a couple of gems of your choosing.
For the inside, place the remaining strip of DSP at 1 1/2" from the bottom and attach the final greeting to the middle using dimensionals. You can use a punch to cut the inside greeting or just trim it to size using scissors.
Bend the card so that it stands using the inside greeting to hold it in place. Watch that your butterflies don't fly away though! 😃🦋
I hope you enjoy making this card!
